Gabriel Wall 1
- Born: 1837
- Died: 26 Apr 1863, Carthage, Louisiana at age 26
Cause of his death was Killed in Action, Civil War.
Two sets of military records were found in the "Report of the Adjutant General of the State of Kentucky" published by Harney in 1866. One record identifies "Gabriel H. Wall" while the other identifies "Gabriel Wall". Both records are identical in the following facts. He enlisted as a private on Nov. 23, 1861 at Harrodsburg, Kentucky and that he enlisted in Company K, 19th Infantry Regiment, Kentucky on Jan 2, 1862. The conflict is that one records indicates "Gabriel H. Wall" was mustered out on Jan 26, 1865 in Louisville, Kentucky while the other record indicates that "Gabriel Wall" died in Carthage, Louisiana on April 26, 1863.
Since Dr. Harold Ragle's "Falconbury's of Casey County" states that Gabriel Wall was killed in the Civil War, I give credence to his death in 1863 in Louisiana. Is it possible that two different Gabriel Walls enlisted on the same day and served in the same unit? If not, I am at a loss to explain the record of being mustered out in January, 1865.
