Census Data 1930 Federal Census, Kentucky, Lincoln County, Waynesburg. William R. listed as a farmer, age 58; wife Linda E., 39; son Johnie, 21; son Roy, 17; daughter Lora, 11; son Thomas J., 4 10/12ths; and "son-in-law" John E. Henry, 72 (I assume this means that Riley was the son-in-law of John E. Henry?).

Riley is listed as being 19 years old at the time of his first marriage (which was Dec 12, 1890 to Parthenia Bastin). If these figures are accurate, this would place Riley's birthdate between Dec 13, 1870 and Dec 12, 1871.

Linda, "Lindie", is listed as 39 on the 1930 census which means she would have been born around 1890-91 but her age at marriage was given as 20. Since she was married on January 2, 1908, this indicates that she was born around 1888. The 1910 census indicates that she had been married for two years, which is accurate, but it also states that she was 16 when she married Riley which would place her date of birth around 1892. This discrepancy is puzzling.

1920 Federal Census, Kentucky. I have not been able to locate William Riley's name in any of the Casey or Lincoln County records.

1910 Federal Census, Kentucky, Lincoln County, Waynesburg. William R. listed as a farmer, age 38; wife Linda E., 18. The number '2' is found in the column "Number of years of present marriage"; which indicates that Riley and Linda were married sometime in 1908. The census record indicates that Linda was the mother of 1 child; this would be Johnnie, although his name is not found in the census record. None of Riley's older children are listed or accounted for. Oma would have been 12, William Everett, 7, and Lola even younger. I am curious where they were; perhaps living with other relatives?

William married Parthenia Bastin, daughter of James S. Bastin and Zerelda Carman, on 12 Dec 1890 in Casey County, Kentucky. (Parthenia Bastin was born in Aug 1869 in Humphrey, Casey, Kentucky.)

William next married Malinda Ellen Gastineau on 2 Jan 1908 in Lincoln County, Kentucky.¹ (Malinda Ellen Gastineau was born about 1892 in Kentucky and died in Dec 1938.)
