Catherine Falconberry

Listing Catherine as the daughter of Jacob Falconbury, Senior is, at best, an estimated guess. Not knowing her birthdate or birthplace causes some problems. One source lists her birthdate as 1790 and another lists it as 1805. That would make her anywhere from 26 to 41 years of age at her marriage to John Houk, Jr.

If she was born in, or around, 1805, she could possibly be the first child of William and Mary (Walls) Falconbury since they were married in 1805. However, she could be the last child of Jacob and Charity Falconbury.

There are two reasons why I believe she is Jacob's daughter. The fact that she apparently moved to Indiana around 1826 with the senior Jacob instead of remaining in Kentucky with William indicates to me that she was Jacob's child. Also, the fact that her own daughter was named Charity adds weight to the evidence that she was the daughter of Jacob and Charity. I will let you come to your own conclusions.

Catherine married John Houk Jr. (John Houk Jr. was born in 1785 in Burke, Lincoln County, North Carolina and died on 27 May 1858 in Graysville, Sullivan County, Indiana.)
