Orpha Ester Hinkle ^{1 2}

Orpha attended school at the Cedarvale school in Ellis, Kansas (1908 school card) and lived across the street from her grandfather, Jacob Baker. Normally, the children walked to school and they were supposed to stay on the dirt road but occasionally they would take a short-cut by crossing through the pastures. However, on days when it was really cold Orpha's grandfather Jacob would take her to school on a sled pulled by a horse.


One day, while Orpha was bringing the cows in from the pasture she ran across an old Indian tomahawk. She kept the tomahawk for her entire life and handed it down to her grandson, Denis Vine, before she died. ^{3 4 5}

Orpha married Herbert Wesley Vine, son of Herbert John Vine and Unknown.
